Menu of Massage Services

Swedish

Swedish Massage Therapy is gentle and relaxing. Using long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle, Swedish Massage is a system of therapeutic, manual manipulations of the body’s soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia) for the purpose of enhancing circulation to restore or maintain health and overall well being. It relaxes tense muscles, increases joint range of motion, reduces the recovery time from physical injury, and calms and soothes both emotional and physical stress.

Swedish with Acupressure

When warranted, Acupressure can be incorporated into a Swedish Massage – by applying pressure to accupoints on the body’s meridians. The goal of Acupressure is to restore health and balance to the body’s channels of energy. This technique usually incorporates stretching along with Acupressure massage.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage concentrates on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body. This technique uses deep finger pressure in slow, firm strokes to treat a variety of physical ailments, including:

  • Chronic Pain – increasing the blood flow through the body helps to reduce the inflammation that causes pain.
  • Blood Pressure – by easing stress and pain, Deep Tissue Massage can have a positive effect on blood pressure.
  • Scar Tissue – Often recommended for people who are recovering from surgery, Deep Tissue Massage can improve lymphatic circulation and drainage to improve flexibility and range of motion in the affected area.
  • Rehabilitation of Injured Muscles – By facilitating the movement of toxins from the muscles and helping to stretch tight muscle mass, Deep Tissue Massage is often used to rehabilitate sports injuries and reduce the pain caused by injury.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is specifically designed for those who are involved in regular physical activity. The focus of Sports Massage is preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. Strokes are generally faster than that of Swedish Massage and facilitated stretching is a common incorporated technique. This massage technique helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Prenatal/Mother Massage

Prenatal Massage is a form of therapeutic bodywork that specifically meets the unique needs of the pregnant woman. Promoting improved function of muscles and joints, Prenatal Massage can help increase circulation and overall body tone. Additionally, Prenatal Massage can decrease mental and physical fatigue commonly associated with pregnancy. Prenatal Massage is usually begun during the 2nd and/or 3rd trimesters of pregnancy but can begin as early as the first trimester. While lying on her side, a pregnant woman can be massaged on her side, in a semi-reclining position, and even on her belly, with the use of a specially-designed pillow.

Also known to relieve sciatic nerve pain and other common conditions experienced during pregnancy, Prenatal Massage is an effective therapy for helping to calm, and promote overall wellbeing.

Medical or Rehabilitative Massage

Medical Massage/Rehabilitative Massage is a specialized type of massage aimed at helping a client recover from an injury, surgery, or ongoing medical treatment such as radiation/chemotherapy or post-physical therapy treatment. Commonly, the massage therapist will work in conjunction with a physical therapist or doctor to address the very specific medical needs of the client.
