Richard Preneta, PT, Physical Therapist and Clinic Director
Richard Preneta is the owner and director of Preneta Physical Therapy. A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Richard has been treating patients in Fairfield and the surrounding area for 25 years. Through the years he has successfully directed staff physical therapists, athletic trainers and exercise specialists and has personally treated thousands of patients at the 2119 Post Road address since the clinic doors opened in 1996.
Richard's continued education course work includes a number of manual therapy courses; muscle energy, myofacial release, and plyometric and core stabilization techniques as well as balance and vestibular rehabilitation. He specializes in hands on treatment, sports medicine and geriatric care. Recent coursework includes training with the Hospital for Special Surgery for Conservative Management of Knee Osteoarthritis and coursework specific to the shoulder where he furthered his joint mobilization and manual therapy techniques.
Richard lives in Milford with his wife, Shay, and twin children, Kevin and Bella. He enjoys a variety of hobbies including wine making, gardening, and bee keeping.
Cynthia Sweeney, PT, Physical Therapist
A graduate of the School of Allied Health in Physical Therapy and the University of Connecticut, Cynthia had extensive experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy prior to joining Preneta Physical Therapy in 2008. In addition to her more than 20 years of patient experience, her progressive approach to physical therapy includes both traditional and manual therapy techniques.
Utilizing the McKenzie approach, closed chain exercises, core stabilization, muscle energy techniques, fascial release techniques, and tri-planer functional exercise programs, Cynthia has always been on the cutting edge of advances in the field of physical therapy. Recent coursework includes a North American Seminar on the cervical spine where she focused on treatment approaches for cervical disorders.
Cynthia enjoys kayaking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, gardening, and rug hooking.
Andrea Krollman, PT, Physical Therapist
Andrea Krollman attended the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1995. Andrea has provided physical therapy services to a wide range of orthopedic and neurological diagnosis. She is also proficient with McConnell taping techniques, manual treatments including myofascial release, muscle energy, craniosacral, yoga therapies, massage and energy work. Andrea provides high quality and compassionate care while helping patients to maximize their functional potential.
In addition, Andrea's continued education course work includes Integrated Structural Therapy courses, Lumbar Function and Cervical Thorasic Stabilization training and Restorative Yoga to name a few.
Andrea lives in Fairfield, CT with her husband and two sons, Aidan and Cole. She enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family.
Marilyn McQuade, PT, Physical Therapist
Marilyn McQuade, BS, PT, is a manually based Orthopedic Physical Therapist who specializes in movement therapy with 25+ years of experience. She has a BS in Dance Therapy and worked as a Kinesiotherapist in the VA and as a PTA for seven years before getting her PT degree from NYU in 1997. She is interested in all forms of bodywork and has been working for the past 19 years in outpatient orthopedics in the Fairfield area. Her most recent coursework includes Kinesio taping which is often used as a therapy in relieving pain of muscles and helps to overcome skeletal injuries.
Marilyn lives with her family in Fairfield and enjoys Yoga, Biking, Skiing and Gardening as well as all outdoor activities.
Matt Dempsey PT, DPT, OCS, Physical Therapist
Matt graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2008 with a BS in Biology and later went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University in 2012. Matt has practiced in the outpatient orthopaedic setting since 2012 and was Board Certified as a Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS) in 2017. Matt understands that each patient presents with different impairments and always utilizes evidence-based and patient specific interventions and manual techniques. He is committed to continuing education and has advanced training in Kinesiotaping and Dry Needling – his most recent course, Trigger Point Dry Needling Level 2.
When Matt isn't treating patients, he loves to spend time with his wife and son, Mandy and Tyler.
Sarah Weingarten, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist
Sarah graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Biology in 2005 and later went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York Medical College in 2010.
Sarah has practiced in the outpatient orthopedic setting since 2010. Sarah views her role as part practitioner, part educator, aiming to provide individuals with the tools they need to treat their current symptoms, and avoid future injury or pain. She brings years of experience in manual therapy, targeted therapeutic exercise, and postural education to treating each patient – Sarah’s goal is to work with each person to restore his or her highest level of function.
